Who knows about Galileo Galilei!!!!!!?

OK, so here's the deal, i need to write a report about a mathematician, so i picked Galileo Galilei ( and yes he was a MATHEMATICIAN ) so anyways, i was saying can anyone help me on two things about him!! one of them was how did people feel about the mathematician (Galileo) and how he was treated during his life. and also how we use his idea( Galileo's paradox) today and explain why the idea is important today. i have an idea on how he was treated but i am not so sure about it, cause i think i am just using the science part of him, can anyone plzz help. plzz
