What statistical test should I use?

I need to perform a statistical question on data I have collected. I've been told to do a chi-squared test, but I'm not sure how I would do it for my data. My test is supposed to answer this question: Does having your tonsils removed make you more likely to breathe through your nose or mouth? If a chi-squared test can't be used, what other statistical test can I use? Please help!!!
